This building is 7,310 square feet with two bathrooms, two offices, a bar, and an open area for tables, etc. The floor is all carpeted except for the bar and bathrooms. The client wants it cleaned before and after an event. Do you have any advice on how to quote this job?
Friday’s Answer
Our advice is that you need to get a copy of the new ISSA 612 Cleaning Times book by Ben Walker. It has a lot of good info about cleaning tasks and times.
Any proposal must consider the time and cost to your business for doing the work you contract to complete. The reason we cannot be more specific is that we don’t know what you need to do in there, and could only guess at how long it will take.
Will you vacuum the carpet, or must it be wet-cleaned as well? What equipment do you plan to use? What are your current labor rates? What are the supply costs? What are the expenses for supervision, fuel, insurance, overhead? What is your desired profit?
You must educate yourself on all of these and related business concerns and also on the mechanics of the service.
