Travelers Seek Apology for Dirty Airplane Flight

August 26, 2019

A Houston couple is seeking an apology from United Airlines after they say they had to endure a nearly four-hour flight in a row of seats covered in vomit, Click 2 Houston reports.

When Sam Trail and his wife boarded their flight from Vancouver, Canada, to Houston last week, they noticed the back of the seats in the row in front of them were splashed with vomit, as well as their seats and the row floor. When they brought the matter to the attention of the flight crew, the couple say they were handed some paper towels to clean the mess themselves as crew were reluctant to delay the flight. Eventually, a cleaner boarded the plane with a spray bottle and towel to remove the vomit. However, the couple say their row was not completely clean when the plane took off.

United Airlines officials say they have reached out to the couple and released the following statement about the incident:

“We’re disappointed that this aircraft did not meet our standards for cleanliness. Once the issue was brought to our crew’s attention, cabin cleaners were called on board to clean the seat prior to departure.”
