Tennant, Brain Corp., and Walmart Extend Floor Cleaning Machine Deal
Walmart, Inc. is extending a deal with Tennant Co, a manufacturer of floor cleaning machines, and Brain Corp, a developer of autonomous software, to obtain an additional 1,500 robotic floor cleaners for its stores nationwide by the end of the year, bringing its fleet up to 1,860 machines.
The agreement calls for the global retailer to deploy Tennant’s T7AMR (Autonomous Mobile Robot) at select Walmart supercenters across the United States. Tennant’s floor machines will be outfitted with Brain Corp.’s self-driving operating system, BrainOS®. Financial details of the agreement were not announced.
“We look forward to continuing our work by extending the footprint of BrainOS across Walmart store locations and applications,” said Dr. Eugene Izhikevich, CEO of Brain Corp.
“We are proud to partner with Walmart, the first major global retailer to introduce autonomous cleaning robots to deliver operational efficiency, cleaning performance and customer value on a broad scale across a retail platform,” said Chris Killingstad, Tennant's president and CEO.
