SC Johnson Ranks as Top Employer in Central America

SC Johnson, parent company of SC Johnson Professional and a manufacturer of janitorial and sanitation cleaners, was named one of the best workplaces in Central America by the Great Place to Work® Institute.

SC Johnson ranked second out of 33 companies on the institute’s 2019 list. This marks the 12th consecutive year SC Johnson has ranked in the institute’s index of top workplaces in the region.

Federal Overtime Proposal: What You Need to Know

ISSA has provided details to help industry professionals navigate questions.

In the wake of new federal overtime rules proposed by the U.S. Department of Labor, ISSA, the worldwide cleaning industry association, has provided a breakdown of how the proposal would impact employers in addition to how the industry plans to respond.

As an active member of the Partnership to Protect Workplace Opportunity (PPWO), a diverse coalition of associations and industries formed to advocate for the best interest of their members, ISSA has created a bulleted list of how changes to the Fair Labor Standards Act would impact the cleaning industry.

CMM also has resources available to help industry organizations navigate the challenges associated with mandated wage increases, including minimum wage and federal overtime requirements.

CMM Weekly News Recap: Week of March 11

ISSA, the worldwide cleaning industry association and publisher of CMM, has been making industry headlines this week by publishing updates on developments coming out of Washington, D.C.

As mentioned in today’s top story, ISSA has provided a breakdown of how a federal overtime pay proposal from the U.S. Department of Labor would impact contract cleaning companies, facility management budgets, and other vertical markets in the industry. Also policy related, the worldwide cleaning industry association praised President Trump’s signing of the Pesticide Registration Improvement Act, an agreement that “reauthorizes an important mechanism for getting new innovative and safe chemical products to market more quickly through 2023.”

With the constant change taking place across the industry and our country, it’s important to stay in the know about the latest developments, whether regulatory or tactile solutions. This week’s news showcased solutions for both, including a spotlight about the inaugural Clean Buildings Expo, taking place March 26-27, in Baltimore, MD; CMM’s free carpet care webinar; and a new online training partnership with Marquette University.
