Marcal Production Facility Burns in 10-Alarm Fire
Last week, a 10-alarm fire severely damaged the factory of Elmwood Park, NJ, paper towel and tissue manufacturer Marcal, a Soundview Paper Co.
Strong winds and arctic temperatures hindered firefighters attempting to extinguish the blaze, which was reported late Wednesday afternoon, NBC News reports. None of the 200 employees working at the plant at the time of the fire were injured but authorities report nearly 90 percent of the factory was damaged.
The fire is believed to have begun in a warehouse that houses large rolls of paper. The cause of the blaze is under investigation.
