Maintenance Workers Take the Spotlight on Times Square
We know maintenance workers are stars. Sadly, not everyone else realizes the important role cleaning staff and facility managers play in keeping people safe and comfortable.
UpKeep, a developer of computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) software, is working to bring jansan and facility maintenance people out in the spotlight with its Unsung Heroes Campaign, Facility Executive reports. The company kicked off the campaign this week by publicly thanking cleaning and maintenance workers on the screen of the NASDAQ Tower in Times Square in New York and featuring their stories in a spread in the Los Angeles Times.
“Maintenance and facility managers are typically only thought of when something at your facility is on fire or broken so badly that it’s out of commission, like that air conditioning unit that breaks down in the summer heat,” UpKeep wrote in it message explaining its reason for the campaign. “The truth is, though, that maintenance and facility workers are the people responsible for sustaining every building we step foot into, they’re in every industry, and are in every country in the world. They make a huge impact on everyone’s lives, every single day, whether we’re aware of it or not. And they often do it without any recognition whatsoever.”
