Cintas Reveals Winner of Top Custodian Contest
Cintas Corp. has named Howell Beasley the 2020 Cintas Custodian of the Year®.
The contest, now in its seventh year, called for elementary, middle, high-school, and college students, in addition to staff, to submit a short essay describing why their school’s custodian deserves the award. Beasley was chosen from a pool of hundreds of candidates. He has served as custodian for Albertville Kindergarten & Pre-K in Albertville, Alabama, for nearly 40 years.
“Custodians go the extra mile by maintaining a healthy environment for students and staff, especially throughout the COVID-19 pandemic,” said John Barrett, ISSA Executive Director. “They’re on the frontlines ensuring that all schools are safe to return to, and we are honored to be a part of this contest to highlight Howell along with other custodians across the country.”
As the winning custodian, Beasley received a cash prize of US$10,000 and an additional $5,000 in Rubbermaid Commercial Products and Cintas products for his school. Albertville Kindergarten will also receive a comprehensive training and development package from ISSA valued at $20,000. The nine runners-up each received $1,000 and free tuition to one ISSA Cleaning Management Institute (CMI) training event, valued at up to $1,500. In addition, all finalists will receive access to the Microbial Warrior™ Workshop from the Global Biorisk Advisory Council®, a division of ISSA.
