Cases of Legionnaires’ Disease Continue to Mount in Deadly Outbreak

August 15, 2019

An outbreak of Legionnaires’ Disease linked to an Atlanta hotel is now the largest such outbreak of the disease in Georgia’s history.

Health officials in Georgia have now linked 63 probable cases to the Sheraton Atlanta, including one fatal case. Earlier this week, two Atlanta law firms representing more than 40 guests of the hotel filed suit against the property demanding compensation over the outbreak, CNN reports.

The hotel is currently closed until later this week while infectious disease experts continue to examine water sources at the facility and wait for the results of pending tests from the Georgia Department of Public Health.
