Are Your Cleaners Detailed Enough for the Queen?

January 13, 2020

England’s royal family is seeking a new housekeeper for Windsor Castle. The job entails cleaning and maintaining a range of interiors and items so they look their best, preserving the image of the castle. The ideal candidate must be well-organized with an eye for detail, Insider reports.

Staff who interview candidates have set up a test determine if candidates are detail-oriented enough for the job. Tracey Waterman, head of housekeeping recruitment at the royal household, said she places a dead fly either in the fireplace or carpet in a room of the castle. She then brings candidates into the room, giving them a chance to look around. She said out of 10 candidates, about half will notice the fly. Of those who notice, one will bend down and remove it. That person is the ideal housekeeper for Windsor Castle.

Your staff may not be cleaning Windsor Castle, but dead insects and other pests will leave a poor impression of your facility. Learn tips for removing pests from restrooms and other areas.
