Bed bugs can be a nuisance for hotels, not only because they can create a negative experience for their guests, but overtime it can erode the image of their facility as well.
Although written with travelers in mind, an article from Consumer Reports provides several tips that hospitality staff can use to inspect for bed bugs when tidying up a hotel room.
- Conduct an inspection. Pull off the bed sheets to check the seams of the mattress and box-spring for signs of bed bugs. Also be sure to check under the mattress.
- Know the signs. If you see reddish-brown dots or dark, rust-colored spots, it could be a sign of bed bugs.
- Prevent infestation. Keep equipment on a luggage rack or hard surface, even if the room is bed bug free.
