Hurricane Trash Cleanup Could Take Months

Piles of trash line the streets from more than 200,000 homes on the Texas coast.

As Hurricane Harvey cleaning efforts continue, water-filled streets have been replaced with trash-strewn streets.

Last week, ruined drywall, flooring, furniture, toys and other items cluttering the streets in Houston, TX alone comprised 8 million cubic yards of waste, CBS News reported. Although workers are clearing trash as quickly as possible, their efforts may be diverted elsewhere due to Hurricane Irma.
