NAPERVILLE, IL — Brian Cardinal, the former Purdue University basketball star nicknamed "The Custodian," has nothing on Derek Raridon, according to Yahoo.com.

Cardinal earned his nickname for the way he would "clean the floors" as he dove for loose balls, the article stated.

According to the article, for Raridon, "custodian" is no nickname as he literally sweeps the floors as an actual custodian before starring as a junior forward for the North Central College basketball team.

Raridon has worked in the maintenance department of the school since he was 16, the article noted.

Now 21 and second on the Division III team with an average of 13 points per game, Raridon continues to mop up the athletic complex, working full-time in the summer and part-time during the year, the article added.

"It's a great job," Raridon said.

"I've learned a lot from my boss, and it's nice to be around the athletic complex all the time. My coaches and teammates are always down there, so it's really not as bad as it could be, I guess," Raridon added.
