Uniforms have been used in a variety of industries to improve productivity and create a consistent, professional look for your company.

Do you require your employees to wear uniforms? What led to your decision and what have been the results?

To those that do require uniforms, what style of uniforms do your employees wear, and do you provide the uniform or require your employees to build a uniform from their wardrobe?

Yes, we require our employees to wear uniforms as we would want to create a company identity and professional look.
We coordinate with our clients as to the design/style of uniforms for our employees deployed at their premises.
We provide for/make the uniforms but it is a practise in our country that uniforms are paid thru equal salary deductions by the employees.
Thanks and best regards

I am the owner operator of Desert Dry Carpet Care in Pahrump NV., and I whole heartedly believe in uniforms.

My uniform consists of jeans and a button down shirt with my name and company logo on it, but it is not a uniform non the less.

I would seriously question the integrity of any comapny that sent a person into my home or place of business with out a uniform of some sort

The uniform makes an audible statement to my clients and prospects. It says that I take my self, my business, and my clients seriously.

We also require our staff to wear uniforms and we have a strict enforcement policy on wearing them.

Our uniforms consist of T shirts, polo’s, button down oxfords, smocks or sweatshirts with our company logo on it.  Winter coats and/or hats are also provided.

We pay 100% of all uniforms and pay 80% and logo costs for the winter coats.

Direct cleaning staff wear the T shirts, smocks and/or sweatshirts.

Supervision and maintenance staff wear the polo’s and/or oxfords.

We also color code our divisions.

Cleaners are typically in red.  Project staff is usually in blue and Supervision and Maintenance staff are green. (Our company colors in case you're wondering.)

All Staff are also required to have their Photo ID on them at all times as well.

What led to this decision?  I was driving down Main Street and saw the competition leaving a building.... at least I hope it was our competition!  I wasn't really sure as they were in ripped jeans (a definite no no with us) and no uniforms.  Hmmm maybe they were burglarizing the building and I should have notified the police!?!

We do almost the same at our firm as Terry wrote about in her post.

However, I must add that our uniforms earned the title of BSCAI "Award Winning" uniforms designated by the Textile Association in 1990 and 1999! ;-)

We do require uniforms but only T shirts with company logo.

The reason so public know who they are and it works well for us.  When there are events we do require a shirt with collar

I paid extra for those jeans, we call them 'rags on the go'

New building, yep.

Once they get to know a guy/gal by the sight of him/her?  I wont be too upset if they sometimes wear street clothes to work.

I provide Dickies uniforms... but if they want to ruin their own clothes, I don't care.

As long as there's no concert or logo t-shirts, it's all good... especially if I got a person who shows up consitant and on time.

I let the cleaning speak for our quality, mostly.

Some places, especially if it's a day-porter situation, then yeah, my uniforms are mandatory. But at night?  I wouldn't raise a stink about it.
