PITTSBURGH — Environmental health, infection control, cleaning quality and green cleaning have become high priorities for many Pittsburgh-area businesses and nonprofits—in many cases, as cleaning budgets and staff have been cut 5-15% in recent years.

The Pittsburgh division of xpedx is offering area business and facility owners, managers and employees a no-cost seminar to give them new, up-to-date information on reducing cleaning costs, cleaning best practices and environmentally responsible cleaning. xpedx is one the nation’s largest distributors of cleaning supplies and equipment.

The event, “How to Reduce Cleaning Costs and Meet Environmental Goals,” takes place Tuesday, May 11, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at The Rivers Casino, Andrew’s Steak & Seafood, in Pittsburgh. Lunch is included at no charge.

Dave Frank, a veteran cleaning industry consultant and president of the American Institute for Cleaning Sciences, leads the seminar. He will discuss topics including cleaning system design, cost management, meeting sustainability goals on a budget, and communicating about cleaning costs and effectiveness with your boss or board. Building service contractors and sustainability directors are also invited to the seminar.

Representatives from some of the nation’s best-known cleaning supplies and equipment companies will attend including Diversey, Georgia-Pacific, Kimberly-Clark, Rubbermaid, Tennant Nobles, Heritage Bag, SCA, GOJO Industries, Regency, Reliable, Andersen Matting, Claire Manufacturing and ProTeam.

Following lunch, a mini trade show will be held from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. The latest advances in cleaning products, technologies and practices will be discussed and demonstrated.

For more information on the event, or to reserve your seat, contact Jonathan Duggan of xpedx at 724-333-0135, or via email at jonathan.duggan@ipaper.com.
