RIDGEWOOD, NJ — Ridgewood Sanitation Department employee Damien Hamlin had to receive more than 30 stitches Monday morning after a porcelain toilet he was disposing of shattered, according to the Ridgewood Patch.
The impact of the toilet hitting the pavement caused "a small explosion," with materials slicing through his Hamlin''s thigh, the article stated.
According to the article, Hamlin was transported to Valley Hospital where emergency room doctors stitched the inside and outside of his leg to close the wound.
"The muscle was cut but, luckily, there is no nerve damage, though it is unclear when he might be able to return to work," said Public Works official John Spano.
