EAU CLAIRE, WI — A window washer survived a 6-story fall from a U.S. Bank
building with nothing more than a broken foot and minor lacerations and bruises, according to an Associated Press
story hosted by google.com.
Alex Clay, an employee of Bob Smith Window Cleaning for about four months, shattered a bone on the arch of his left foot after bouncing off the roof to the entranceway and hitting the pavement below, the story stated.
Clay said: "I kept falling. It all happened so fast. I kept waiting. I remember the entire fall all the way down, but I was trying not to panic because I had my safety line connected on the back of my harness."
The real the problem developed when Clay noticed a clip on his gear for rappelling wasn''t fastened, a malfunction that nearly cost him his life, the story noted.
After Clay fell, a maintenance man and his co-worker tried to pull him back up, but they were too tired to successfully do so, the story added.
According to the story, Clay was conscious and talking when emergency crews arrived at the scene before transporting him to Luther Hospital
