SAN DIEGO, CA — The US Green Building Council-San Diego Chapter has named their executive committee for the up-coming year, and Keith Schneringer, the Marketing Manager for WAXIE Sanitary Supply, has been re-elected the President of the Chapter for 2009. Keith has served on the Board of Directors for the Chapter since 2005, and has been instrumental in helping to grow interest in the chapter and providing green building education to San Diego County.
Keith has coordinated the LEED Technical Review Workshops in San Diego since 2006, and served as Chapter Secretary in 2007 and Chapter President in 2008. Keith says that he “looks forward to helping the Chapter promote the benefits of green building design, construction, operations and maintenance (and especially green cleaning) to the San Diego region in 2009 and beyond.”
Rick Hazard, Vice President of Marketing at WAXIE, says that Keith “is the driving force behind WAXIE’s Green Program. He understands that sustainability is achieved by incorporating all aspects of our business; not just products. The USGBC is a non-profit organization of representatives from across the building industry leading a national consensus for creating sustainable building practices. USGBC’s mission is “transform the way buildings and communities are designed, built and operated, enabling an environmentally and socially responsible, healthy, and prosperous environment that improves the quality of life.”
Developed by the USGBC, LEED (Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design) certifications for both new & existing buildings was created as a voluntary standard that defined “green building” and is used as a guide to establishing green cleaning programs within these buildings.
