Wausau Paper to invest $220 million

HARRODSBURG, KY — Wausau Paper is planning to expand its Mercer County facility, according to Business First.

As part of the expansion, the company will invest about $220 million and create about 76 jobs, adding to the plant''s current workforce of 397 employees, the article noted.
According to the article, the state gave preliminary approval to Wausau Paper, who has made paper towel and tissue paper products at the Harrodsburg plant since 1990, for as much as $6 million in tax incentives through the Kentucky Business Investment program.

"This is an outstanding vote of confidence by Wausau Paper in the Harrodsburg workforce and Kentucky’s overall business climate," said Kentucky Governor Steve Beshear.

"The growth and success of our existing industries is vital to our state''s economic health and recovery. Investments like this … are a positive step in the right direction," Beshear added.
