PALM BEACH, FL — After more than a year of planning, an 840-square-foot vertical garden has sprouted on the west outdoor wall of the Saks Fifth Avenueon Worth Avenue, according to The Palm Beach Post.

The wall — a living work of art that features more than 10,900 plants and an irrigation system to care for them — is the first such installation in Palm Beach County, the article noted.

The wall was designed by Deborah Kotalic, a consultant for GSky Plant Systems Inc. of Vancouver which has built living walls and roofs throughout the world, the article stated.

According to the article, the popularity of living walls has bloomed in recent years, both for their aesthetic appeal and their environmental benefits.
