is the first K-12 school district in America to achieve Cleaning Industry Management Standard (CIMS) certification with Honors, according to a press release. Upper Merion Area School District
According to the release, CIMS applies to the management, operations and performance systems of cleaning organizations; compliance with the standard demonstrates that a cleaning operation is structured to deliver consistent, quality services designed to meet customers'' needs and expectations.
CIMS-certified organizations, in addition to undergoing a comprehensive assessment of management and operational execution, must demonstrate compliance with the five core principles of the Standard: Quality systems; service delivery; human resources; health, safety and environmental stewardship; and management commitment, the release stated.
As part of the certification process, an independent, accredited assessor conducted on-site reviews of
Upper systems, processes and documentation and visited randomly selected Merion Area School District''s Upper employees to ensure that their activities are consistent with its documented systems and processes, the release noted. Merion Area School District
William Dillon, custodial coordinator for the Upper
Merion Area School District, said: "Upper Merion knew that achieving CIMS certification would not only be a great fit with our program, but reaching such as milestone will remind us to strive for excellence, which is part of the district''s Mission Statement."
