NAZARETH, PA — The Nazareth Area School District custodial union has agreed to a salary reduction for the upcoming 2012-2013 school year, according to The Express-Times.
The district is struggling to balance its $69.18 million budget and has already temporarily suspended several school programs and asked for other groups to consider pay freezes or cuts, the article stated.
According to the article, the International Brotherhood of Teamsters Union, which represents custodians and other maintenance personnel in the district, has agreed to give back an undisclosed percentage of next school year''s pay raise.
District Superintendent Victor Lesky has said the exact percentage is still being negotiated, the article noted.
