NEW ORLEANS — An outbreak of norovirus delayed the departure of a cruise ship, becoming the third such outbreak to be reported over the weekend, according to the New York Daily News.

"Voyager of the Seas," a 3,100 passenger Royal Caribbean Cruises ship was delayed from leaving the Port of New Orleans for a seven-day trip by a couple of hours, the article stated.

According to the article, on Friday, Louisiana was notified by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) that a cruise ship with suspected norovirus would be docking, but did not comment on how many passengers might have been sick.

"They let us know, but that''s it. They don''t give us details or anything. And we really don''t need details about norovirus," said state epidemiologist Raoult Ratard.
