Tuesday''s Ask the Experts question from a cleaning professional on the International Custodial Advisors Network (ICAN) Ask the Experts page: I have been asked to bid on a 7,000-square-foot office building. I would be cleaning twice a week. Cleaning would include dusting, windows, floors, bathrooms, desks, a small kitchenette and baseboards. What would be a fair rate to bid?
The answer:
We can''t honestly say. It all depends on how quickly you can do the work and what you wish to earn for your time.
If you can clean at a rate of 2,000 square feet per hour for the basic tasks, you will spend about 3.5 hours on the job.
If you wish to earn $30 per hour, your charge will be $105 per time or $210 per week. That figures out to $910 a month with a uniform billing.
Are these the right numbers ... — Lynn E. Krafft, ICAN/ATEX editor
