TORONTO —Toronto Mayor Rob Ford is adamant about outsourcing city cleaning positions, according to the Toronto Sun.
In an attempt to keep the burden of the final decision from resting on one individual, the city council voted 29-12 last week to ensure any future attempts to contract out cleaning jobs goes through the government management committee and city council, the story stated.
Toronto currently pays the cleaners $64,000 a year, a price Ford says can be lowered to $30,000 or $40,000 a year by outsourcing to the private sector, the story noted.
Ford said," We''re contracting out. They just delayed it; they slowed it down a little bit."
