Thursday''s Ask the Experts question from a cleaning professional on the International Custodial Advisors Network (ICAN) "Ask the Experts" page: I want to clean residential homes located through real estate companies. I have never priced house cleaning. How do I charge?
The answer:
Depending on the labor rate for your area, your total expenses, and desired profit, it is common to see billing rates at $20-$30 an hour.
A make-ready process can take six to 14 hours to clean a home, depending upon the size, condition, and required cleaning standards.
Average homes in the 2,400-square-foot range often require eight man-hours.
Once you have cleaned a few, you will be able to bid by ...Gary Clipperton, National Pro Clean Corporation.
