Thursday''s Ask the Experts question from a cleaning professional on the International Custodial Advisors Network (ICAN) "Ask the Experts" page: I have been cleaning this 3-year-old office that had film left on the windows for all that time while it set vacant and now, no matter what I do to the glass, it looks like this plastic film has burned into the windows and they look terrible.
I know I am cleaning them well but, when you step back and look at the window, you see these lines that are always there. Is it possible that this film with the hot sun burning into the glass is what is causing the windows to look like this?
The answer:
Undoubtedly, the film is making the windows hard to clean and contributing to a streaky appearance. However, the film may have been placed there for a reason, possibly for sun control or to add strength to the glass.
