DURANGO, CO — An official school tour guide is not needed when you have Greg Butler, a former park ranger and guide at Alcatraz Island and Dinosaur National Monument turned custodian at Durango High School, according to the Durango Herald.
The Class of 1960 recently assembled at the school for a 50-year reunion and five-year custodian Butler jumped at the opportunity to show the group around the "new" Durango High School, the story stated.
According to the story, those being guided through the building were very impressed with Butler''s knowledge and dedication to his position.
Annie Phillips of the Class of 1960, said: "I have to say that tour was one of the highlights of the reunion weekend. He really loves what he does. That was clear."
After the guided tour was over, Butler put on his normal hat and continued with his duties as maintenance technician/lead custodian, the story noted.
Butler considers himself "a little cog in a system" and lauds his fellow employees that seldom receive recognition for their efforts, the story added.
