Peter Sheldon, vice president of operations and development for Coverall Health-Based Cleaning System, has a list of five of the germiest places at the airport and on the plane, the article noted.
At the top of Sheldon''s list are the airplane bathroom, where numerous studies have shown that these are teeming with Escherichia coli (E. coli) on almost every surface, and the floor at security areas, the article stated.
"As you stroll barefooted through the security checkpoint, have you considered the millions who have gone before you," asked Sheldon.
"Athlete''s foot and other fungal infections can easily be left behind, just waiting for their next host," Sheldon added.
"I think it''s true that one would presume [the bathroom] is teeming with bacteria," he said.
"I would suggest you minimize your contact with anything in it," Glatt concluded.
