STOCKHOLM — Swedes could be on the brink of a toilet paper shortage if a labor union follows through with the threat to prevent the tissue from leaving facilities, according to the United Press International.

The action, reported by Swedish news agency TT, is set for April 23, and could conceivably wipe out the supply of toilet paper and paper towels in stores across the country, the article stated.

According to the article, the threat is a reaction to protracted wage talks between the Commercial Employees'' Union and the Svensk Handel retail employees association.

If a strike does occur, the Papper labor union has announced it will block deliveries from several Swedish toilet paper factories beginning April 23 in a show of solidarity, the article noted.
