Building a Sustainable Future:
A Design and Construction Conference
James River Green Building Council Hosts Green Building Conference March 29th

Richmond, VA - The James River Green Building Council (JRGBC), the Central Virginia Chapter of the U.S. Green Building Council, will host “Building a Sustainable Future: A Design and Construction Conference” on March 29th in Richmond, VA.

This conference is a one-day seminar that will bring together green building professionals from throughout Central Virginia to attend learning sessions corresponding to categories in LEED, and to provide continuing education for green building professionals, including sustainable sites, water efficiency, energy and atmosphere, and materials and resources. The full-day conference will feature an opening plenary session on the “Greening Virginia’s Capitol” project, specifically its low-impact stormwater management design and a closing plenary: An Introduction to LEED for Neighborhood Development.

Featured session topics also include low energy building design techniques, rainwater harvesting, Energy Star tools, incorporating LEED requirements into construction specifications, building leakage testing and inspection and more!

Early-bird discount conference rates end on March 8th. This event open to the public, pre-registration is required at http://www.jrgbcgreenconference.org.

The conference will be held on Tuesday, March 29th, 2011 from 7:30 am-5:00 pm at the Ramada Plaza Richmond West, 6624 West Broad Street Richmond, VA 23230.

The audience for this conference will include architects, contractors, engineers and other green building professionals primarily focused on new construction. No prerequisite knowledge is required to attend this conference; however, sessions will be geared primarily toward those with an intermediate or higher level of knowledge in their fields.

The JRGBC is hosting this event along with its Community Partner the Associated General Contractors of Virginia, Inc. (AGCVA). Continuing education credits will be provided for LEED Accredited Professionals, and AIA and ALSA (LACES) learning units are anticipated.
