SARATOGA SPRINGS, NY — Skidmore College has completed additional testing to the Starbuck Center and can now begin the remediation and renovation of the building, according to The Skidmore News.
An environmental hygienist hired by the college for testing found normal background radiation far below U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) action levels, no elevated readings of substances of concern, the article stated.
According to the article, the college began testing the Starbuck Center to determine the source of unconfirmed health concerns reported by several Starbuck employees.
To protect the safety of 50 employees in the affected building, the administration decided to evacuate the building until the source of these concerns could be verified, the article noted.
The initial round of testing found only an unsubstantial amount of mold in one room; a third round of testing will be completed before employees can return to the building, the article added.
