PALO ALTO, CA — Staff gathered at a luncheon on Friday to celebrate head custodian Hok Ky''s nearly 30 years of service to Palo Alto High School, according to The Paly Voice.
Ky will retire next Friday when the district goes on winter break, the article noted.
"Hok is the reason every teacher and support staff wants to be at Paly. He''s unmatched," said Principal Phil Winston.
According to the article, Ky immigrated to the United States from Cambodia and became an entry level custodian at Paly in 1981.
He worked his way up the ranks and earned the position of custodial supervisor in 1998 and has held that position for the past 12 years, the article stated.
Ky, known for his reticence, said, "I just want to thank everyone for being very supportive of me from the bottom of my heart."
