OLYMPIA, WA — A janitor who formerly cleaned the Thurston County Sheriff’s Office
was charged with second-degree theft after being caught on a surveillance camera stealing money from a charity piggy bank, according to The Olympian
According to the story, the camera was placed in the sheriff’s office in July after an employee reported that more than $600 she had collected for the Special Olympics
had been stolen from her desk in June.
Melinda Fisher admitted stealing from the piggy bank and taking the Special Olympics envelope after being confronted about the incidents, the story stated.
Fisher, who is no longer employed as a janitor with the Thurston County facilities department, has an arraignment scheduled for Tuesday, August 25, 2009, the story noted.
