MIDLAND, MI — Dow Chemical Co. is offering voluntary incentive and severance packages to avert laying off workers, according to The Saginaw News.
Fewer than 100 of the 6,500 Dow Chemical employees were eligible for the deal, the story stated.
Labor reductions at Dow are necessary and will save the company an estimated $700 million annually, the story noted.
Local 12075 President Kent Holsing said: ''''The goal of the negotiated plan was to minimize if not eliminate the chances of bargained-for employees being laid off. It appears we''ve achieved that objective.''''
