SPOTSYLVANIA, VA — The Virginia Supreme Court has ruled that the Spotsylvania''s School Board was wrong when they did not award its custodial contract to the lowest bidder two years ago, according to The Free Lance-Star.
The school board has voted to change their custodial services provider, effective July 1, the article stated.
According to the article, even though Professional Building Maintenance Inc. of Stafford County provided the lowest bid for school cleaning services in the spring of 2010, they were not awarded the contract.
The contract instead went to SSC Service Solutions Inc., a Knoxville, Tennesse-based company, the article noted.
The Supreme Court ruled that board improperly applied what’s known as the "best value" method for awarding the janitorial contract in 2010, the article added.
