Paul MacDonald, who was a custodian at the school for 15 years and was well-liked by students and staff alike, passed away last spring, the story stated.
MacDonald had a passion for lighthouses, and the school saw this as a fitting way for his light to eternally shine on those who admired his hard work and dedication, the story noted.
MacDonald''s wife Joan, who attended the event with her three sons Eric, Ryan and Tyler, said: "It would have meant the world to him. He would have been totally honored. He would have been thrilled. Growing up in Erieau, he loved lighthouses."
While dedicating the lighthouse, Blenheim District High School principal Mark Sherman had everyone join hands around the courtyard and repeat: "May its beacon guide and lead us," the story added.
