KEY WEST, FL — The Monroe County School board has voted in favor of outsourcing school custodial services, according to the Keynoter.
The decision will effectively cut the pay of nearly 70 custodial employees by at least 40 percent, the article stated.
According to the article, a divided board awarded a one-year, $2.1 million contract to Ohio-based GCA Services.
Under the contract, 70 of the current 74 custodians employed by the district will have an opportunity to work for GCA as long as they pass a background check, the article noted.
