TROY, MI — A Troy high school closed Thursday because of a norovirus is expected to reopen today, according to the Daily Tribune.
The International Academy East closed Thursday after 120 of the 350 students were off sick with gastrointestinal problems, the article stated.
School officials began noticing the students — who are in grades 9-12 — were calling in sick last Monday, but on Thursday, the absenteeism was significant, the article noted.
According to the article, the school district contacted the Oakland County Health Department and officials said probably a norovirus was the cause of the sickness.
On Friday, a crew was using disinfectant to clean all surfaces at the school, the article added.
