FLINT, MI — The Flint School District is one step closer to privatizing several school services, according to the Flint Journal.
The school board''s decision to privatize custodial services comes as they struggle to approve their budget for the 2011-2012 school year, the article stated.
According to the article, the idea to privatize had previously been voted down twice before being approved at Wednesday’s board meeting.
The Service Employees International Union (SEIU) had been given a deadline of June 10 to make concessions before the board would accept the low bid of FEATS of Portland, Michigan, the article noted.
