PHILADELPHIASCA Tissue North America has announced the promotion of James Carmichael as vice president of human resources, according to a press release.
According to the release, Carmichael — who previously served as the director of employee relations since 2008 — will now oversee all human resources teams and lead programs and policies related to benefits, compensation, performance management, employee services, safety and labor relations.
SCA President Don Lewis said: "Jim brings three decades of valuable human resources, labor relations and paper industry experience to his new role. Over the past year, he has managed our progressive and positive relationship with the United Steel Workers, and he will continue to lead and remain closely involved with our labor relations activities."
Charmichael, who has a Juris Doctorate from Albany Law School and a graduate degree from Duke University, previously held leadership positions at Greif Packaging, Westvaco, Georgia-Pacific and Smurfit-Stone, the release stated.
SCA Tissue is a leading producer of away-from-home tissue products and the first papermaker in America to earn EcoLogo™ certification, the release added.
