Rainstorms cause mold on college campus

LONG BEACH, CA — A rainstorm that flooded the California State University at Long Beach (CSULB) campus has caused extensive mold damage to the Social Science and Public Administration building, according to the Daily 49er. According to the story, some of the damage has been repaired, including the tearing out of 50 feet of wall at the bottom floor of the building to air out the water damage.
Mark Farrell, a carpenter for facilities management, said that nothing is currently being done to prevent future water damage, but that the basement area is prone to water seepage during rain.
CSULB Superintendent of Building Trades Paul Johnson said: "Southern California isn''t really set up for this type of rain."
Johnson also said that CSULB is working with a water-proofing company, the story added.
