Winter floor care starts at the doors
January 14, 2011
LAWRENCE, KS — Winter can be tough on floors with weather conditions amplifying floor care problems and making the need for a floor care maintenance program all the more important, according to Purozone.
A floor maintenance program should start with grit control, the article noted.
Outside mats can trap particulate soil on shoes, but more absorbent interior matting is needed to remove moisture and additional soils, the article stated.
According to the article, increased mopping or autoscrubbing frequencies can remove more soil and prevent accidents.
Winter floor care does take more time and attention: Increasing floor maintenance programs and mechanizing floor work as much as possible will help reduce the time needed to maintain floors, decrease labor costs and keep floors looking their very best, the article added.
