According to the story, the Towel and Tissue unit was particularly successful, reaching record profits of $49.5 million last year.
The company was also able to execute cost-cutting measures to reduce its working capital by $27 million and its debt by $74 million, the story stated.
President and Chief Executive Officer Thomas Howatt said: "With debt at its lowest level in more than a decade and cash flows substantially improved, we are positioned to compete effectively in our core markets and to strategically invest in our businesses to drive increased shareholder value.”
Wausau Paper produces fine printing, writing and technical specialty papers as well as "away from home" towel and tissue products, the story added.
