LUBBOCK, TX — The arrest warrant of a former Frenship Independent School District janitor confirms his status as a Cuban national and refugee in the U.S., according to the Lubbock Avalanche-Journal.

Marcelo Salas is currently being held at the Lubbock County Detention Center on one count of sexual assault, two counts of assault and one count of disorderly conduct, the article stated.

According to the article, after being told of Salas'' status as a Cuban national, FISD detective Rosanna Langston contacted border patrol Agent John Parum who confirmed that Salas had been a refugee since April 2005.

A Social Security card, driver''s license and criminal background check are the necessary documentation to be employed at Frenship, and since Salas met all the requirements, there was no reason to doubt his eligibility, the article noted.
