Wage violation could be costly
LYNN, MA — Being in violation of the town''s living wage ordinance could cost a cleaning company its contract, according to The Daily Item.
Because of the violation, Revere Mayor Thomas Ambrosino has said he will vote against a contract renewal with Complete Cleaning, the article stated.
According to the article, the living wage ordinance was created in 2007 for businesses holding city contracts and is set at $10.60 an hour.
"They have not paid the wage required by the ordinance. Unless they provide me with evidence they have not violated the ordinance, I am voting against them," Ambrosino said.
A statement provided by Complete workers who were picketing on Monday said the contract cleaner pays most of its workers $8 an hour and does not provide health insurance or provide sick days, the article noted.
