UNC housekeepers to be briefed by consultant
CHAPEL HILL, NC — University of North Carolina (UNC) housekeepers are expected to get their first look at a report designed to examine the university''s problems in the housekeeping department, according to The Herald-Sun.
The PRM Consulting Group will go over their 90-page report with each of the three housekeeping shifts, starting with the third shift, the article stated.
According to the article, little is known about what the report might contain, but workers are hoping it will lead to better working conditions.
"There is a great deal of hope that this could actually lead to changes," said Laurel Ashton, leader of Student Action with Workers.
"I think there''s a lot of energy about seeing what the consultants found," Ashton added.
PRM was hired in March by UNC Chancellor Holden Thorp in order to "assess the climate and culture" in the housekeeping department and to identify problems, the article noted.
