Tuesday''s Ask the Experts question from a cleaning professional on the International Custodial Advisors Network (ICAN) "Ask the Experts" page: What do you use to stop floor stripper from passing under the doors? I had to do a hallway and didn''t want the floor stripper to run under the door and strip the medical lab floor.
I used some trash bags and some tape. What do you recommend?
There are commercial products called "stripper dams" available from sanitary suppliers. These are adjustable plastic strips with a rubber-type seal that prevents cleaning solutions from running under doorways and down adjacent hallways.
There are also absorbent tubes, which can be used for the same purpose, but they work differently in that they absorb the solution, similar to a spill roll. Caution should be taken if using an absorbent tube, or rolled towel, because the tube can cause more finish to be removed from the doorway than from rest of ... — Glen Franklin
