The USGBC releases an updated LEED report

WASHINGTON — The U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) recently released updated statistics for its Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification program, according to the Mother Nature Network.
Commercial offices are the most frequently registered LEED projects with a total of 12,290 registered or certified, the story stated.
According to the story, retail applications ranked second with 4,398 registered or certified projects and higher education came in third with just over 3,000 registered buildings.
The rest of the top 10 most frequently registered LEED ventures are: Multi-unit residential dwellings, 2,775; campuses, 2,406; military bases, 2,115; restaurants, 2,069; industrial sites, 1,660; community development, 1,607; and K-12 education, 1,600, the story noted.
The USGBC also released data about the number of registered LEED projects by country with the United States leading and the rest of the top five being the United Arab Emirates, China, Canada and Brazil, the story added.
