Tests confirm Kaivac technologies as sanitizing devices

October 6, 2009
HAMILTON, OH — Kaivac Inc. announces that both its KaiVac® No-Touch Cleaning® and its KaiFly™ flat-surface cleaning systems have been confirmed as sanitizing devices by an independent U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) certified lab using plain water without the use of chemical cleaning agents, according to a press release.
Lab test results show that these systems achieve a greater than 99.9 percent reduction of Escherichia coli (E. coli), Clostridium difficile (C. diff), methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA), pseudomonas and salmonella bacteria when used as directed, the release stated.
According to the release, when using the No-Touch Cleaning process, the first step is normally the application of chemicals to all surface areas to be cleaned; however, eliminating this step and using plain water has enabled the company to develop a new "high-speed" No-Touch Cleaning process that also greatly simplifies machine operation and training.
New time studies report that the already-fast No-Touch Cleaning times can now be further reduced by an additional 40 to 50 percent while delivering outstanding cleaning results, and as a result, Kaivac is announcing that a new patent-pending Rapid Restroom Sanitizing program with associated training materials will be ready for rollout in the fourth-quarter of 2009, the release noted.
Paul South, president of Valley Janitor Supply Company in Hamilton, Ohio, said: "We''ve been testing Kaivac''s new cleaning process in the field with successful results. According to our adenosine triphosphate (ATP) measurements, Kaivac''s Rapid Restroom Sanitizing program outperformed microfiber mopping with a brand-name chemical by a factor of 20 or more. Not only does the Kaivac system offer a better way to clean, but it is also safer and faster. Plus, the improved productivity and chemical savings create a compelling return on investment (ROI)."
Designed to remove the maximum amount of soil, bacteria and other biopollution, Kaivac''s patented No-Touch Cleaning systems combine an indoor pressure washer, a powerful wet vacuum and chemistry into an integrated system that empowers workers to hygienically clean without touching contaminated surfaces, the release added.
