According to the story, the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) Local 26 — representing more than 4,000 janitors working in downtown Twin Cities buildings — announced today that they have reached an agreement with the Minneapolis-St. Paul Contract Cleaners Association, which represents cleaning companies like ABM Janitorial Services, FBG Service Corp., Harvard Maintenance Inc., Mid-City Cleaning Contractors Inc. and Triangle Services.
Janitors have been working without a contract since January 8, and have since held a number of demonstrations, including a recent protest at a meeting of the Minnesota Bankers Association, the story stated.
According to the story, the tentatively-approved three-year contract includes an increase in wages and health benefits for employees.
A spokesperson for the cleaners association declined to discuss specifics of the contract, which must still be ratified by union members, the story added.
